Hi!
I’m Peggy, a semi-retired mental health therapist. I have been crafting since age 15, over 50 years and have self-taught myself how to crochet, sew, knit, quilt, scrapbook, card making, painting and several others. As I moved toward full retirement from my work as a therapist, I wanted to find other ways to spend my time and to continue to create income. Of course, I turned to crafting and home décor also drew me as I have always loved decorating my own home. I had been watching many videos of other creatives engaged with various crafts. I became especially interested in the work of those who were turning formerly loved, but discarded and donated items, into beautiful home décor. There are two important reasons I was drawn to this idea: the reuse of vintage and antique items saving them from landfills and the creativity involved in transforming those items.
I am currently sourcing the items for resell from yard sales, local thrift stores, consignment stores, and estate sales. My husband works as a handyman and is often called on to remove the contents of uninhabited apartments and houses, items which the owners have abandoned. Formerly these things would have been thrown into dumpsters and taken to the landfill. Now he rescues them instead and brings them home to me. Many of these items need little to no repair, only a good cleaning, or can be transformed into beautiful home décor.
I have a love for all things country, cottage and farmhouse and have decorated my home with a combination of these styles. So you will see in the home décor items I have curated a focus on Cottage Style - Rustic, Core, Granny, Farm, French & English.
The item in the photograph was headed to a land fill until my husband rescued it.
